The subject of this study is the role of the Internet of Things (IoT) in the evolution of Building Management Systems (BMS). The project is part of the “Information Management Systems” course and aims to explore the technical and managerial aspects of so-called Smart Buildings. In an era of rising energy costs and environmental requirements, static property management is becoming insufficient. Implementing IoT allows for a transition from reactive troubleshooting to predictive maintenance and precise adjustment of indoor conditions to the actual needs of users. The paper presents how data streams from end devices impact operational cost optimization and how they redefine the role of the property manager in the 21st century.
